50 Days of Being Away

Travels of 2010

This year has been eventful in terms of leaving home. I’ve packed my bags and headed to the airport, packed it and headed to the railway station, packed my bags once again and headed to the bus station, packed it and even gotten into a car. A lot of packing of the same things, a lot of moving around and a lot of good memories stored in pictures and my mind.

So it went like this.

1. February – Shimla-Chandigarh (1 week)

2. April – Goa (1 week)

3. May – Kerala (2 weeks)

4. June – Pune (2 weeks)

5. September – Pune (again) (4 days)

6. September – Goa (again) (4 days)

7. December – Pune (and again) (expected 4 days)

And that brings me to a total of 50 days away from this city and away from my own bed.

Let’s see how 2011 goes.

To Crow

What is it about mankind that makes it irresistible to him or her to brag? Mind you that 90% of the bragging that one does, is about oneself. To think that one would be delicate in promoting him or herself is to think that it snows in the city of Mumbai, yes, by that it would mean that it would be a dim thought.

If someone were to make public something that they themselves have shaped that would be a fine expression of freedom on the part that person, but when the same person is repeatedly dallying around a room for days and weeks over the same expression, it begins to take the form of something far from an agreeable expression of freedom and undergoes a metamorphosis for the bad.

It’s kind of sad to see that happen, isn’t it? Well, to each, his own.

Moral: Do not crow of your own cock.

Black Swan

When you look at pictures of people from school now, you realise that the people who were as dumb as a rock, if not more, the ones who all the teachers said would amount to nothing at all other than a piece of wood, became models with a great body and even greater looking women flocking around them 24/7.

The ones who were really athletic and totally into sports, today have the hottest girlfriends and are always about to be accepted by a respectable firm that gives major perks to their sportsmen and off to live a life of content.

The really geeky ones grew up to be insanely geeky adults doing things that contribute to society in a good way along with satisfying their pockets, so you see how women won’t be problem here?

The gang affiliated kids got real-world gang affiliated, met all the wrong people, some did bad ass shit in their life, some peddled, some vandalized, but they all got the girls because every girl is into a ‘bad-boy’ deep inside.

The super spoilt rich kids who carried cell phones back in 2001 remain rich kids and today drive those convertibles that everyone including you and I stare at, they even occasionally feature in newspapers for being involved in a drinking and driving incident/accident, but then miraculously, a day later no one follows up, ever. Again, you wouldn’t fail to see that women more than exist in their lives, more often more than one.

Then, well, the average Joes like you and I get out of college with our average grades, get on with our average lives, looking for average jobs, nothing too high profile obviously, do our best to make ends meet, try and be one of the above kind of once kids and fail at it as though nature meant it to be this way, always want more and something better in life.

That is where we succeeded. That insatiable hunger that we possess to be more than who we are will always lead us to at least trying more than once in our lives to go beyond what we think we are.

So, is the potential.

But, at the end of the day, the average Joes like you and I will always, yes always, get a girl that has already been with one of the above kind of kids from your class in school. But then again that’s just how it is.

Like Thom Yorke of Radiohead says, “Cause this is fucked up, fucked up”*.

Yeah so I'm not into the Twitter-Buzz integration, basically I'm not lazy. Or maybe I just have way too much time on my hands.
